Women Empowerment Through Digital Skills - Tata Steel CSR Initiative
A transformative CSR project with Tata Steel Foundation that empowered 5,000+ women in Jharkhand's mining regions with digital and entrepreneurial skills, enabling financial independence.

Impact & Outcomes
The Challenge
Women in Jharkhand's mining belt regions faced limited economic opportunities, high dependency on mining-related income, and minimal exposure to digital technologies. Cultural barriers and family responsibilities made it difficult for women to attend traditional training programs. The goal was to create sustainable livelihood opportunities while respecting local constraints.
Our Solution
We designed a women-centric program with flexible timing, childcare facilities, and community-based training centers. The curriculum focused on digital skills (computer basics, internet, digital payments), entrepreneurship training, and sector-specific skills like tailoring with CAD software, beauty services with booking platforms, and home-based food business with online marketing. We also provided micro-enterprise support including mentorship, seed funding linkages, and market access.
Key Achievements
Created 85 self-help groups for sustainable community support
Developed mobile app in local language for continued learning
Established marketplace connecting women entrepreneurs with customers
Achieved 95% completion rate through flexible scheduling
Facilitated Rs. 2.5 Cr in micro-loans for women entrepreneurs
Program recognized by Ministry of Women & Child Development
"This program didn't just teach us computers - it gave us confidence and a path to financial freedom. Today I run my own online tailoring business and support my family independently."
